Information for the future Advisory Group members of Orient Corridor

Based on Regulation (EU) No 913/2010 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 22 September 2010, concerning a European rail network for competitive freight, railway infrastructure managers are obliged to establish so-called rail freight corridors in Europe.

Infrastructure managers of the freight corridors shall jointly define and organise international pre-arranged train paths for freight trains, where they shall facilitate journey times, frequencies, times of departure and destination and routings suitable for freight transport services in order to improve the competitiveness of rail freight services.

According to Article 8 paragraphs 7 and 8 of the Regulation, the Management Board of a corridor has to set up an Advisory Group of Terminals and an Advisory Group of Railway Undertakings interested in the rail freight corridors. The Advisory Groups may issue an opinion on any proposal by the Management Board which has direct consequences for the investment and the management of terminals or the operation of railway undertakings respectively. Advisory Groups may also issue own-initiative opinions. The working language is English.

Participation in the Advisory Groups is on a voluntary basis.

More information about the setting up of the Advisory Groups will be available soon.
